Northeast B.C. players eligible for PWHL draft

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Two Northeast B.C. players are eligible for the 2026 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) draft. 

Fort St. John’s Brooke Disher, and Alexandra Lehmann from Cecil Lake are representing Northeast B.C. on the list of players eligible for the 2026 PWHL draft, which will take place on June 17th in Detroit, Michigan. 

Disher, a defenceman, was born in Fort St. John on July 14th, 2004. According to Elite Prospects, Disher began her youth career with the Fort St. John Flyers. 

Disher has spent the last four seasons in the NCAA, currently in her second season with Ohio State University after two seasons with Boston University. 

Disher recorded two goals and 15 points in 41 games for Ohio State this season. In 2022, she captained Canada’s women’s team to gold at the U18 Women’s World Championship. 

Prior to the 2022 World Championship, Disher recorded 12 goals and 33 points in 23 games with the Rink Hockey Academy U18 prep team in Kelowna. Disher also contributed 10 points in five playoff games that season. 

Currently in her first season with Nipissing University, Alexandra Lehman is one of 40 goaltenders eligible for this year’s draft. 

Born in 2000, Lehmann played with Carleton University from 2018 to 2020, before heading over to Switzerland for the next five seasons. This season, Lehmann returned to Canada to play for Nipissing University, where she recorded a .941 save percentage through 17 games. 

This year’s draft provides an opportunity for the two players to become the first active PWHL players from Northeast B.C.

Disher and Lehmann are among 16 players from B.C. eligible for the 2026 PWHL draft.
