Man arrested after deadly fire at Abbotsford, B.C., homeless encampment
ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford, B.C., say a man has been arrested after a body was discovered in a burned out structure at a homeless encampment Friday evening. Abbotsford Police say officers responded to a reported fire at the Peardonville homeless encampment on South Fraser Way just after 6 p.m.

Abbotsford Police say officers responded to a reported fire at the Peardonville homeless encampment on South Fraser Way just after 6 p.m.
They say the blaze was isolated to a “single wooden structure,” and a dead body was found after Abbotsford firefighters put out the fire.
Police say investigators confirmed the death to be a homicide and a man was arrested and remains in custody.
Abbotsford police say investigators are trying to piece together the circumstances of the deadly fire, but they say it was an “isolated and targeted incident” with no risk to the public.
They say the local major crimes unit has now handed over the case to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
