FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd provincial courts between April 6th and April 10th. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, April 7th

Arthur Lavern Nelson Read (born 2003)

Read was found guilty of mischief on March 12th, 2026, in Dawson Creek. 

They were sentenced to five days in jail and given a 12-month probation order. 

Read was also found guilty of breaching a probation order on March 2nd, 2026, in Dawson Creek.

They were sentenced to 60 days in jail and were subject to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, April 7th

Chad Anthony Johnson (born 1971) 

Johnson was found guilty of driving without a driver’s licence on December 24th, 2024, in Dawson Creek. 

They were fined $750 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of $113, which goes toward helping crime victims.

Jess Andrew Sadlier (born 1971) 

Sadlier was found guilty of flight from police on March 29th, 2024, in Dawson Creek, 

They were handed a conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest,’ for a period of 30 days, and was ordered to pay $100 as a victim surcharge. 

Broden Jay Scott (2000) 

Scott was found guilty of assault by choking on July 25th, 2025, in Chetwynd. 

They were handed a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if they meet the conditions set by the judge, and a 12-month probation order. 

Chetwynd Provincial Court sentencing, April 9th

Albert Joseph Brertton (born 1983) 

Brertton was found guilty of assault on July 7th, 2025, and uttering threats on November 3rd, 2025, in Chetwynd. 

They were handed a 30-day conditional sentence and a 12-month probation order. 

Miranda Grace Davis (born 1982) 

Davis was found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on February 23rd, 2025 in Chetwynd. 

They were fined $500 and were ordered to pay $75 as a victim surcharge. 

Cassidy Alexis Lightburn (born 2006) 

Lightburn was found guilty of causing a disturbance on July 28th, 2025, in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a conditional discharge and a nine-month probation order. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, April 10th

Daniel Kakonde Tshimba (born 1987) 

Tshimba was found guilty of possession with the purpose of trafficking on November 21st, 2022, in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a conditional sentence for two years less a day, a DNA order was made and they were ordered to report for sample collection. They were also handed a probation order for 12 months and a firearms prohibition for 10 years. 

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, April 10th

Cale Alexander Goderre (born 1988) 

Goderre was found guilty of driving without a driver’s licence on August 17th, 2025, in Dawson Creek. 

They were fined $250.
