Kitten out of surgery after being found injured under truck hood, BCSPCA urges drivers to check vehicles
Jagger, a short-haired tabby cat, was admitted to the North Peace BCSPCA after being found under the hood of a truck.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace BCSPCA is urging drivers to check their vehicles before turning on their engines after a kitten was found injured under the hood of a truck in Wonowon.Â
Sara Hamanishi, manager of the North Peace BCSPCA, said the centre recently took custody of a 12-week-old domestic short hair tabby cat named Jagger.
According to Hamanishi, Jagger was delivered to the centre on March 21st after he was found inside the hood of a truck.Â

“The finder said they saw some little kitty prints around their truck, as it had been snowing,” Hamanishi said. “They opened the hood of their truck and saw Jagger in there. [They] scooped him up and alerted us right away.” Â
Hamanishi said once Jagger was admitted to the centre, he received medical treatment, including a surgery to repair a bone in his leg.Â
Despite the warmer weather, Hamanishi urges people to take steps to protect wildlife that may be seeking warmth under their hood: “Thumping on the hood of your vehicle or hitting the alarm button, honking your horn, listening for sounds of movement before starting your vehicle.”Â
Hamanishi said Jagger is currently recovering in a foster home.Â
