Fort St. John adoption partnership reaches 100 rehomed shelter pets
Since September 2024, over 100 shelter cats and dogs have been adopted thanks to the Bone and Biscuit Best Buddy partnership between Moose FM, The Bone and Biscuit Co. pet supply store and the BCSPCA.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A partnership designed to find new homes for cats and dogs in a Fort St. John shelter has now helped more than 100 pets.
Bone and Biscuit and Moose FM partnered with the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BCSPCA) in September 2024 to find forever homes for cats and dogs in its care.
The program, named ‘Bone and Biscuit Best Buddy,’ has resulted in over 100 cats and dogs from the BCSPCA being adopted.

Each week, a different shelter animal is featured on Moose FM.

Chris Walker, program director and afternoon radio host at Moose FM, says the 100th and 101st adoptions were a Siamese mix cross named Bumpy and a border collie named Ziggy.
Walkers says the partnership began as a different way to help out the community.

“We had tasked ourselves to say, ‘how can we help the community more in different ways?’” said Walker.
“At the time we were dealing with some health stuff for our dog, and I thought, ‘why not partner with one of the many animal shelters that we have?’”

According to Walker, Fort St. John city councillor and owner of The Bone and Biscuit Co. pet supply store Trevor Bolin was all aboard.
Bolin says he enjoys hearing feedback from the community.
“The best part is hearing back from staff at both the BCSPCA and The Bone and Biscuit when adoptions occur…
“Don’t get me wrong, I love the hundreds of pictures and videos that we get of pets from the SPCA,” Bolin said. “But it’s actually hearing back from the two groups that we’ve partnered with on what a success this has been.”
Walker says the community has really stepped up in supporting the program.

“The community as a whole really loves this bit,” said Walker. “We’ll get text messages live while we’re on the air, we’ll get messages on old videos from weeks ago. We’ve had people reach out and say, ‘hey my pet was actually one of the first ones you guys featured’ so it’s very well recognized at this point.”
MooseFM and Energeticcity.ca are owned by the same parent company, Moose Media.
