According to a Facebook post, the sessions will focus on understanding trauma, supporting mental wellness and strengthening the ability to care for children and youth during challenging times.

The post says the information sessions are designed for coaches, youth leaders, educators, childcare providers, recreation staff and anyone else in a role supporting children, youth or families.

Information on how to access mental health support and resources for youth across the province will be provided.

Both sessions will be split into two different topics, ‘understanding trauma’ and ‘supporting youth,’ presented by a senior consultant and trainer for Safer Schools Together and Compass Mental Health.

The sessions will focus on:

  • Communication with children and youth during difficult times
  • Recognizing trauma and grief responses
  • Identifying when additional support is required
  • How to access expert consultation and care pathways for youth
  • Available education resources – toolkits and webinars

Access to mental health support for youth in Tumbler Ridge has been a topic of discussion after nine people, including the assailant, were killed in a mass shooting in February 2026.

People who wish to sign up for the session can email Safer Schools Together at info@saferschoolstogether.com
