Session on understanding youth trauma to be held in Tumbler Ridge
Safer Schools Together, in partnership with BC Childrens Hospital’s Mental Compass, will be hosting the youth trauma support session on April 1st, 2026.

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — A new information session focused on providing parents with resources to better support youth is coming to Tumbler Ridge.
The sessions are hosted by Safer Schools Together and BC Children’s Hospital’s Compass Mental Health.
A previous session was hosted on March 31st, with another happening on April 1st from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre at 340 Front Street.

According to a Facebook post, the sessions will focus on understanding trauma, supporting mental wellness and strengthening the ability to care for children and youth during challenging times.
The post says the information sessions are designed for coaches, youth leaders, educators, childcare providers, recreation staff and anyone else in a role supporting children, youth or families.
Information on how to access mental health support and resources for youth across the province will be provided.
Both sessions will be split into two different topics, ‘understanding trauma’ and ‘supporting youth,’ presented by a senior consultant and trainer for Safer Schools Together and Compass Mental Health.

Access to mental health support for youth in Tumbler Ridge has been a topic of discussion after nine people, including the assailant, were killed in a mass shooting in February 2026.
