FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John’s new pool will be named after one of the city’s most recognizable residents, local businessman Trevor Bolin.
Earlier this year, the City of Fort St. John issued a notice requesting proposals for naming rights for several recreational assets in the city.

It has now been revealed Bolin submitted an application to rename the city’s replacement of the North Peace Leisure Pool, which is currently in the design stages, after himself.
It will be known as the ‘Trevor Bolin Center.’

Bolin said he wanted to commemorate his family’s 100th year in the region.

He said: “Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my family’s 100th year in Fort St. John than the announcement of the naming rights of the new pool being named after me.”
But, Bolin had stipulations for this: he negotiated with the city to have a massive 20-foot bronze statue of himself installed in the pavilion area.
“So not only will you walk up to the Trevor Bolin Center, but you’ll be able to partake in this brand new bronze statue that will celebrate this great facility and my family’s 100th year in Fort St John,” he added.
When asked how much the naming rights to the pool and the statue cost, Bolin said: “At this point in time, while we’ve just finalized negotiations, we haven’t quite got a quote on the 20-foot bronze statue yet, we’ll just wrap it up with it being a small, undisclosed amount.”
…And if you’ve read this far, you might have guessed: it’s April 1st, and this story is not real. Happy April Fools’ Day!
