FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson provincial courts between March 23rd and 27th.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, March 23rd
Christopher Cawley (born 1994)

Cawley was found guilty of an incident on October 1st, 2024 in Fort St. John.
They were issued a $100 recognizance for a period of 12 months. If Cawley fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $100.
Kyle Cecil George Craft (born 1998)
Craft was found guilty of one count of assault, three counts of assault of a peace officer, one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and one count of mischief $5,000 or under on October 24th, 2025 in Fort St. John.

They were handed a conditional sentence, which is to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest,’ for a period of 90 days. A secondary DNA order was issued and Craft was ordered to report for sample collection.
They were handed a probation order of 12 months and were ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.
Clayton Lyle Overholt (born 1996)
Overholt was found guilty of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, breach of an undertaking and mischief worth $5,000 or under on June 12th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
They were sentenced to jail time already served, handed a DNA order and were ordered to report for sample collection.
Overholt was handed a probation order of 18 months, a firearms prohibition for 10 years and was ordered to pay $100 as a victim surcharge.
James Edward Owens (born 2002)
Owens was found guilty of breaching a probation order and a release order on October 17th, 2024 and on March 19th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
They were handed a jail-time-served sentence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of $100.
Owens was also found guilty of wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer on May 14th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
For this, they were handed a conditional sentence of 90 days and a probation order of 12 months.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, March 23rd
Myles Boyer (born 1998)
Boyer was found guilty of assault with a weapon on June 5th, 2025 in Dawson Creek.
They were handed a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets. A primary DNA order was made and Boyer was ordered to report for sample collection. They were also handed a 12-month probation order.
Jarred Colten Lepretre (born 1992)
Lepretre was found guilty of breaching a release order on September 25th, 2025 in Moberly Lake.
They were sentenced to jail time already served.
Joseph Serge Keith Paquette (born 1985)
Paquette was found guilty of uttering threats on November 20th, 2023 in Chetwynd and uttering threats to burn, destroy or damage and breaching an undertaking on March 30th, 2024 in Chetwynd.
They were handed a jail-time-served sentence.
Paquette was also found guilty of uttering threats on December 4th, 2024 in Chetwynd, for which they were handed a conditional sentence for 45 days and an 18-month probation order.
Joel Warren Thomas (born 1997)
Thomas was found guilty of breaching a release order on July 2nd, 2025 in Dawson Creek and breaching a release order on July 4th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
They were sentenced to jail time already served.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, March 24th
Timber Douglas Cobbett (born 1990)
Cobbett was found guilty of hunting on cultivated land without consent on November 30th, 2023 in Fort St. John.
They were fined $1 and were subject to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime.
An order was made, which is a legally-binding decision made by a court of law, and they were handed a probation order for 18 months.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, March 24th
Darcy Ray Belcourt (1993)
Belcourt was found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on July 4th, 2024 in Dawson Creek.
They were sentenced to jail for 21 days, given a probation order until the expiration of the sentence and also a driving prohibition for one year.
Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, March 24th
Tyrell Maxi James Cobbett (born 1990)
Cobbett was found guilty of breaching a recognizance on October 11th, 2025 in Fort Nelson.
They were handed a probation order for 12 months and given a suspended sentence, which means Cobbett is given conditions to follow.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, March 25th
Calvin Albert Jones (born 1983)
Jones was found guilty of breaching a probation order on February 2nd, 2026 in Houston.
They were sentenced to jail time served and given a probation order of 12 months.
Jones was also found guilty of possession of stolen property worth under $5,000 and driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on November 16th, 2025 in Dawson Creek.
They were sentenced to jail for 135 days and time already served, handed a probation order for 12 months and Jones was also fined $500 and ordered to pay $75 as a victim surcharge.
Jones was also found guilty of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm on October 14th, 2025 in Prince George.
They were sentenced to jail time served and given a probation order of 12 months.
Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, March 25th
Christopher Willem Hall (born 1987)
Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Hall for incidents on September 14th and October 13th, 2024 in Fort Nelson.
Hall was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for both incidents for a period of 12 months. If Hall fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.
