Winter Fest’s record-breaking 2026 Slide Hill to be taken down

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — One of the main features of Winter Fest 2026 is to be taken down. 

According to a Facebook post uploaded to the City of Fort St. John Recreation’s page, the MNP 360 Slide Hill, is being taken down starting today, March 30th.

The city hosted its ‘reimaginedmonth-long Winter Fest 2026 from February 1st to February 28th.

This year, the MNP Slide Hill set a new record for being used 27,253 times during the Family Day weekend from February 13th to February 16th. 

The post predicts the removal of the slide hill will take about three days. 

It is asking the community to “stay clear” of the construction zone at Centennial Park while crews are working.

The 100th Street North Peace Leisure Pool entrance will be closed to traffic while machinery is in use in Centennial Park.

The city asked commuters to obey all traffic control and construction signage. 

A post-event survey has also been launched by the city to gather opinions about the fest.
