Warning of up to 10 cm of snowfall in Tumbler Ridge, says Environment Canada

Environment Canada says as much as 10 centimetres of snow could fall in Tumbler Ridge overnight from March 29th to 30th.

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. – The national weather authority has issued a ‘yellow’ snowfall warning for Tumbler Ridge residents on Sunday evening.

Environment Canada says as much as 10 cm of snowfall is expected in the district, beginning the evening of March 29th and continuing overnight into March 30th.

The warning is issued for the entire South Peace region, but specifically labels Tumbler Ridge in the release.

Using Environment Canada’s colour-coded weather system, ‘yellow’ indicates weather which is “hazardous [and] which may cause damage, disruption or health impacts.”

“A convective band is sitting over Tumbler Ridge and is producing heavy snow,” reads the alert. 

It goes on to warn both roadways and sidewalks “will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” and visibility may be an issue.

The snowfall is expected to dissipate by Monday Morning, March 30th. Check Environment Canada’s warning here.
