According to Brent Morgan, president of the Fort St. John Firefighters Charitable Society, the funds go to the programs the charity runs.
Morgan says he hopes this year’s fundraiser will surpass the $164,000 the event raised last year.
“We run a bunch of different programs…a medical travel program, Christmas drop, spring break free swim,” Morgan said. “We’re in partnership with School District 60 for backpacks and school supplies. Also with North Peace Optometry, getting kids in kindergarten to get their eyes tested.”
Morgan says the funds also go towards the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, for burn survivors in B.C. and the Yukon.

Morgan says the best part of the event is seeing the community come together.
“The generosity of the people in this community is first class. We get all kinds of recognition about our event all over the province,” Morgan said. “We’re starting to have other fire departments that want to send people up to our event to learn how we do it….
“The biggest thing is we can’t do it without the generosity of the people who come to our event.”
Tickets can be purchased on the Fort St. John Firefighters Charitable Society website starting April 1st, 2026.
Morgan recommends setting an alarm for midnight, when the tickets go live, as he says tickets in the past have sold out by 8 a.m.
Last year’s totals of $180,000 reported by Energeticcity.ca did not account for all expenses, Morgan said.
