Public invited to register interest in speaking at Dawson Creek consultation meeting for budget 2027

A public consultation meeting will be held sometime in June 2026 in Dawson Creek about next year’s provincial budget.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A public consultation meeting will be held about the next provincial budget of 2027 in Dawson Creek. 

According to a news release on March 23rd, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has announced details for its consultation on the next provincial budget. 

It is a permanent committee of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia which conducts provide-wide consultations to get insights from British Columbians on priorities for the next provincial budgets.

It presents a final report with recommendations to the Legislative Assembly. 

A mix of virtual and in-person meetings are expected to take place around B.C. in June 2026.

Apart from Dawson Creek, meetings will be held in Burnaby, Castlegar, Cranbrook, Kamloops, Kelowna, Mission, Nanaimo, Prince George, Smithers, Vancouver and Victoria.

Attendees interested in speaking to the committee are asked to indicate their interest by April 10th, 2026 at 2 p.m. Pacific time by completing a request form on the Consultation Portal: https://consultation-portal.leg.bc.ca/.

Presenters will have five minutes for their presentation, followed by questions from committee members. 

If selected, presenters will be contacted in May with the date, time and meeting details. 

People who are not selected to present will be given an opportunity to provide written insights on the consultation portal in June. 

The release said the committee is comprised of both government and opposition MLAs. 

This comes after finance minister Brenda Bailey’s budget in 2026 included delays to several long-term care homes, including one in Fort St. John
