Fort St. John gas prices soar amid global oil uncertainty
Gas prices have risen in part due to the U.S. and Israel’s continued war with Iran, during which the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively blocked, an important route in the oil and gas supply chain.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Amid global conflict in the Middle East, local gas prices in Fort St. John have soared.
The U.S. and Israel’s continuing war with Iran, which began two weeks ago, has meant an effective blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, an important route in the oil and gas supply chain, as well as strikes on gas facilities in Iran as well.
According to gas price app GasBuddy, the current average price in Fort St. John is $1.70 per litre in stations around town, an increase of 11 cents from last week’s average of $1.59 per litre.

Moving down to Dawson Creek, prices are even more expensive: GasBuddy has an average of $1.74 per litre, an increase of 15 cents from a week ago.
Nationally, GasBuddy has the province of British Columbia with the highest average price in Canada at $1.94 cents per litre, a full 13 cents higher than the next nearest price in Quebec.
Energeticcity.ca reached out to Canadians for Affordable Energy president Dan McTeague for further information but did not immediately hear back before publication.
