Home and away, Fort St. John hockey programs busy at provincials

Both the Fort St. John Flyers and Trackers have teams entered in the U-13, U-15 and U-18 provincial hockey tournaments.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — With the hockey season winding down to its conclusion, it means the start of provincial hockey championships, and Fort St. John is well-represented.

Teams from both the Trackers and Flyers’ programs are entered – including the U-18 Trackers, who are hosting the BC Hockey tier one U-18 championships this week in Fort St. John.

The U-18 Trackers team opened up their journey with a 4-2 win against the West Kootenay Crusaders, with Damon Clay having a pair of goals. Their second game is scheduled for Okanagan representative Omaha Thompson on Monday, March 16th at the North Peace Arena.

Meanwhile, the U-15 Trackers opened up the tier two championship in Vancouver with a 5-2 loss against a team from Trail. The Trackers’ David Dawe and Kyler Pasichnyk had the goals for Fort St. John. They are next in action against the host Vancouver Spirit on Monday, March 16th at 4:15 p.m. at the West Vancouver Ice Arena.

The U-18 Flyers are in Kelowna for the tier two U-18 championship. They lost their opening matchup by a score of 8-4 to the Williams Lake Timberwolves, with their next contest happening at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16th against the Kelowna Rockets at MNP Place.

The U-13 Flyers are in Hollyburn for the tier two provincial championship, and opened the round robin with a 6-5 win in a shootout over the hosts. Carter Andersen and Charlie Oversby each had two goals for Fort St. John. Their next contest will be against the Semiahmoo Ravens of White Rock on Monday, March 16th.
