Comic and sci-fi convention to be held in Dawson Creek

CreekCon at Dawson Creek’s Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre will have a cosplay contest, role-playing workshops and games throughout March 14th, 2026.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Comic conventions and fan expo events have brought science fiction and comic book films and literature to the forefront of pop culture.

Now, those in the Peace region have a convention to call their own. CreekCon, scheduled for this weekend, will be an event showcasing fandom and cosplay on a local level.

The event will take place at Dawson Creek’s Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre. According to its website, it promises attendees a “one-day pop culture celebration bringing fandom, creativity and community together under one roof.”

There will be vendors, workshops and cosplay contests throughout the event. Costumes must not contain real weaponry, with projectiles being subject to inspection.

They must also not contain any nudity, fire, pyrotechnics, yaoi, yuri or hentai content, or have themes of excessive violence or sexuality.

For role-playing and card game enthusiasts, Squig’s Gaming Club will offer live playing and workshops of Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering and Warhammer 40,000 throughout the day.

Special guests will include Fort St. John author Christy Jordan-Fenton. Jordan-Fenton authored the 2011 book Fatty Legs, which won that year’s First Nation Communities Read award.

Tickets for the event are $10 for general admission, with a price of $35 for a family pass. Children five and under are free.

CreekCon takes place on Saturday, March 14th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre at 10401 10th Street in Dawson Creek.
