Environment Canada issues weather advisory for Peace Region
Heavy snowfall and blowing snow will last throughout Monday, with the worst snowfall happening Monday afternoon before tapering off Tuesday.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the entire Peace Region, with heavy snowfall and blowing snow lasting throughout Family Day and into the evening.
Significant weather conditions, including up to 25 cm of snowfall could fall upon the region, alongside northeasterly winds gusting anywhere from 30 to 60 km/h generating “near zero visibility” from blowing snow well into Tuesday.
A weather statement from Environment Canada released states the heaviest snowfall is expected Monday afternoon.
Part of the statement issued on February 16th, reads: “roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate. Travel will likely be challenging. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.”
Using the weather authority’s colour-coded alert system, the current storm is at a “yellow” level, indicating ‘a moderate, localized or short-term’ weather condition, with it being “hazardous weather, capable of causing damage, disruption or health impacts.’
The snowfall is expected to taper off by Tuesday, February 17th as it moves eastward toward the Prairie Region. Read the full statement on the alert’s website.
