Fort St. John RCMP to host BBQ fundraiser in support of Tumbler Ridge
The Fort St. John RCMP detachment will host a BBQ fundraiser to support the community of Tumbler Ridge on February 14th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John RCMP will be hosting a BBQ fundraiser to support the community of Tumbler Ridge in the aftermath of the school shooting.Â
In a press release, the city’s detachment said the fundraiser has been scheduled for Saturday, February 14th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort St. John RCMP detachment at 10712 100th Street.Â
This comes after eight people were killed by a shooter, who also died, in Tumbler Ridge on the afternoon of February 10th.Â
In a recent press conference on February 11th, BC RCMP deputy commissioner Dwayne McDonald named 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar as the shooter.Â
The release said: “The Fort St. John RCMP wishes to share that our hearts are with the families affected by the recent Tumbler Ridge school shooting.
“During times like these, coming together as a community matters more than ever.”Â
The fundraiser will support individuals and families who have been impacted by the school shooting with both their immediate needs and ongoing support, the RCMP said.

Although the RCMP suggests a donation amount of $100, any amount that is affordable can be donated.Â

The release said: “Let’s surround these families with strength, support and love.”Â
