FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The District of Taylor is getting closer to selecting its new logo by appointing another member of staff to its one-year-old logo committee.

During the February 2nd, 2026 meeting, the council approved the appointment of Mahvish Parvez, the district’s economic development officer, upon recommendation from staff who noted she would bring “valuable insights” to the project.

The district first began to explore creating a new logo in January 2025, after the idea was proposed in October 2024.

At the time, staff noted it would take several years to create a new logo, would be a costly process and would require significant public engagement.

The district approved the committee’s terms of reference in a council meeting in February 2025, and five members were to be appointed to it, including at least one councillor.

The terms detailed the committee would be tasked with reviewing and developing “a more current district logo that reflects the historical heritage of the community and provides a sense of place.”

The committee had its first meeting on October 29th, 2025, and according to staff, discussions were broad, with the need to discover “what is Taylor” from a resident’s perspective.

Staff explained the logo was intended to be “a symbol that reflects the personality” of the community, and at this time the committee needed to involve the community more to ensure the logo reflects the needs and wants of the residents.
