FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek provincial courts between January 19th and 23rd. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 19th

Deven Douglas McEwan (born 2005)

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for McEwan for an incident on June 19th in Fort St. John. 

They were issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for a period of 18 months. If McEwan fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.

Florida Vicky Metecheah (born 1976)

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Metecheah for an incident on September 27th, 2025 in Doig. 

They were issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for a period of 12 months. If Metecheah fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.

Ali Sobhani (born 1977)

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Sobhani for an incident on March 23rd, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for a period of 12 months. If Sobhani fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.

Diana Zayanne Vega Fonseca (born 2007) 

Vega Fonseca was found guilty of breaching a release order on July 11th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a probation order for 12 months and a suspended sentence, where Vega Fonseca is given conditions to follow.

They were also found guilty of failing to comply with a sentence or surcharge or disposition on November 22nd in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a conditional discharge sentence, where the record won’t show a conviction if Vega Fonseca meets the conditions the judge sets.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, January 19th

Brandon Norman Lee Dostal (born 1994) 

Dostal was found guilty of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm on October 18th, 2024 and June 30th, 2025 in Kilkerran, as well as assault causing bodily harm on December 17th, 2024.

They were handed a DNA order and sentenced to jail time served. Dostal was ordered to report for sample collection. 

They were handed a conditional sentence of 90 days, where the sentence is to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest.’

Dostal was also handed a probation order for 12 months. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 20th

Jay William Watier (born 1977) 

Watier was found guilty of carelessly using or storing a firearm on July 2nd, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were given a conditional discharge and a six-month probation order. 

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, January 20th

Tyson James Beaulieu (born 2001)

Beaulieu was found guilty of fraud $5,000 or under on May 22nd, 2023 in Pouce Coupe. 

They were handed a conditional sentence of 60 days and were ordered to pay $3,567.57 in restitution, which requires the offender to pay the victim for financial losses the victim suffered because of the crime.

Carlee Jennifer Tolway (born 1991)

Tolway was found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on May 13th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 

They were sentenced to jail for 14 days, fined $500 and told to pay a victim surcharge of $75, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 23rd

Michael Robert Anthony (born 1977)

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Anthony for an incident on February 13th, 2025 in Fort St. John.

They were issued a zero-dollar recognizance after the allegation, where Anthony was given conditions to follow for a period of 12 months. 

Anthony was also found guilty of breaching a release order on June 20th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

Anthony was found guilty of mischief $5,000 or under on March 10th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were sentenced to jail time served and a 12-month probation order. 

Chauncey Narcisse Glen Brooks (born 1994)

Brooks was found guilty of assault and mischief $5,000 or under on March 18th, 2025 in Wonowon. 

Brooks was handed a conditional sentence for 90 days and a probation order of 12 months. 

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, January 23rd

Christopher Gitscheff (born 2007) 

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Gitscheff for an incident on April 14th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 

They were issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for a period of 12 months. If Gitscheff fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.
