It organises these fundraising events every year in March and September with the motive to support one local nonprofit organization.

Estefania Albornoz, who is part of the steering committee for the 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John, told Energeticcity.ca: “Women come together to support one local non-profit organization through pooled donations.”

The nominees will have an opportunity to present their work and explain how they would use the

funds.

“After the presentations, attendees cast their votes, which are counted during the event and the winning organization is announced that same evening,” Albornoz stated.

Additionally, the event’s previous winner – the Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion – will share how the funds raised in September 2025 were used.

She shared: “Attendees can expect a one-hour, in-person event that is both focused

and engaging.”

The group’s steering committee selects the nominees for each of the group’s events.

The main criteria, Albornoz added, is “each organization must be local and the funds raised must create a direct and tangible impact in the Fort St. John community.”

She said: “The committee prioritizes organizations whose work benefits the local community and ensures that the money raised stays in the region.”

The group works on a volunteer basis so none of the funds collected throughout the night are retained by the group.

“The winning organization will receive the full amount of money raised through ticket sales that evening,” Albornoz said.

She shared that community response for the group’s events have been consistently strong.

She noted: “Over the years, the event has built a loyal group of supporters with many

women marking the date in their calendars months in advance.

“Even organizations that do not receive the final donation often gain increased visibility, new donors and volunteer support after presenting.

“This has helped foster a sense of shared purpose and ongoing community engagement around local causes.”

Tickets for the event cost $100 each and women who are interested in attending the event can book tickets here
