Tumbler Ridge’s Winter Carnival to return for 16th year
The District of Tumbler Ridge’s 16th annual Winter Carnival is set to take place from January 19th to 25th, 2026.

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — The District of Tumbler Ridge is organizing its 16th annual Winter Carnival.
According to a January 11th Facebook post, the week-long Winter Carnival is set to happen from January 19th to 25th.
The Winter Carnival will take place at the community centre and outdoor events at the Golf Course in Toboggan Hill Park.
Roxanne Trudeau, the program coordinator for the District of Tumbler Ridge, told Energeticcity.ca the Winter Carnival started in 2010.
“It’s a week-long community involvement event where we host multiple activities that people can sign up and partake in,” Trudeau said.
“We also [have] partnerships with nonprofit groups and organizations within the community [who] will host events as well.”
Trudeau stated the Winter Carnival gets bigger every year.

“We have more participants and everybody is really happy about it,” she said, adding the ‘Tobox’n Race’ is one of the main attractions.
“People build race boxes out of cardboard, they design them and then we race them down the hill.
“We have about 15 winners [and] we offer prizes.”
Trudeau said there will be various events and activities throughout the week, including “edible creation and card castles [where] people build things at home with food or playing cards.”
“For this competition, people can bring their creation in, the district will have judges to judge them and then there will be prizes,” she said.
Additionally, there will be a scrabble wall, scavenger hunt, floor curling tournament and community bingo.
The Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association (TRORA) will also be a part of the Winter Carnival.
Jane Miedzinski, executive director at TRORA, told Energeticcity.ca the association operated the 2025 winter fest, but this year it will be put on with the District of Tumbler Ridge.
It’s hosting a kids program about winter animal safety and tracks, Miedzinski said, as well as sustainability education, winter safety and avalanche information sessions.
“Our only expectation is just having community involvement,” Miedzinski explained.
“We hope that we have a lot of people come down. We want to reach as many people as we can when we take part in events.
“We just want to share our winter safety messages and also talk about sustainability and make sure that everybody’s aware of how to sustainably recreate in Tumbler Ridge.”
Trudeau said: “[We want people to] come out and enjoy the free activities that the district is offering and maybe make some new friends and just have a lot of fun.”
These are a few events that will require registration:
- Animals and Adventure in Winter
- Scavenger Hunt
- Edible Creations
- Card Creations
- Bingo
- Floor Curling Tournament
- Tobox’n Race
The event and all the activities are free.
