“I can confirm that the individual is not teaching at the school or for the district at this time while the court proceedings are ongoing and the matter is investigated.

“This matter is taken extremely seriously by the school district, as nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of our students.”

In a press release, the Hudson’s Hope RCMP said the police received a report of alleged sexual exploitation in October last year.

BC Prosecution Services has approved the charges. A publication ban is in place for any information which could identify victims.

Petrucci said: “While the matter is before the courts, we will be limited in what can be shared publicly.

“However, to the extent we are legally able to do so, we will keep parents and caregivers informed of any developments impacting our schools or students.”

He urged people with any information to contact the RCMP at 250-787-8140.
