FORT ST. JOHN, B.C.— Below are the latest sentences handed down from Fort St. John Provincial Court between January 5th and January 9th. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 5th

Louie James Jr Arabe (born 1989):

Arabe was found guilty of breaching a release order on October 17th, 2025 in Fort St. John was sentenced to jail for five days. 

Arabe was also found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence and breaching an undertaking on March 22nd, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

Arabe was sentenced to jail time served and an extra seven days. They were also given a driving prohibition for one year and ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.

Arabe was also found guilty of driving while prohibited and possessing or using a stolen credit card on January 29th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

For the driving offence, they were sentenced to two days in jail, a driving prohibition for one year and Arabe was ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge. 

For possessing or using a stolen credit card, Arabe was given a suspended sentence – where they are given conditions to follow – and an 18-month probation order. 

Dwayne Gerard Binette (born 1978): 

Binette was found guilty of breaching a release order on March 16th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were given a four-month conditional sentence, which they will serve outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest,’ and issued a probation order for 24 months. 

Binette will have to pay a victim surcharge of $100.

Derek Edward Sather (born 1989):

Sather was found guilty of mischief $5,000 or under and breaching a release order on December 23rd, 2024 and March 11th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

Sather was given jail time served and a conditional sentence for four months. They were also issued a probation order of 12 months. 

They will have to pay a victim surcharge of $100 and $3,000 in restitution to the victim to cover financial losses the victim suffered because of the crime. 

Adam Patrick Byrne (born 1984): 

Byrne was found guilty of breaking and entering with the intent to commit an offence and mischief $5,000 or under on August 11th, 2022 in Fort St. John. 

Byrne was handed a conditional sentence of 12 months. 

Byrne was also found guilty of mischief $5,000 or under on January 12th, 2025 in Fort St. John, and was given a conditional sentence of four months. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 7th

Trevor Abram Olfert (born 1971):

Olfert was found guilty of damaging his own property by arson on October 1st, 2024 in Fort St. John. 

They were given a conditional sentence of 12 months and a probation order of 12 months. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 8th

Joseph Theodore Delaronde (born 1993):

Delaronde was found guilty of possessing stolen property over $5,000 on August 20th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 

They were given jail time served and a probation order of 18 months. 

They were found guilty of breaching a probation order on December 28th, 2024 and breach of an undertaking on April 24th, 2023 in Fort St. John. 

They were issued jail time served and a probation order of 12 months. 

Delaronde was found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on January 16th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were given a jail time served sentence and a driving prohibition for one year. 

Delaronde was found guilty of possessing stolen property on March 26th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were sentenced to 87 days jail time and given a probation order of 18 months.
