Court Report: December 15th to 19th
Today’s court report contains all the sentences handed down in the Peace region between December 15th to 19th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from Fort St. John, Fort Nelson and Dawson Creek provincial courts between December 15th and 19th.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, December 15th
Neal Apsassin (born 1982):
Apsassin was found guilty of multiple offences:
- Assault on September 23rd, 2024 in Fort St. John.
- Mischief $5,000 or under on December 14th, 2024 in Fort St. John.
- Assault on December 14th, 2024 in Fort St. John.
- Possessing unauthorized non-firearms on December 27th, 2024 in Fort St. John.
- Mischief $5,000 or under on December 31st, 2024 in Fort St. John.
- Breaching an undertaking on February 3rd, 2025 in Fort St. John.
- Breach of a release order on July 31st, 2025 in Agassiz.
- Breaching a release order on October 3rd, 2025 in Victoria.
Apsassin was handed a jail sentence for 13 days, jail time served, forfeiture – which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime – and a mandatory firearms prohibition for 10 years.
Apsassin was also handed a 24-month probation order.

Bradley Kyle Davis (born 1988):
Davis was found guilty of refusal on May 11th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
He was fined $2,000 and was given a driving prohibition for one year.
Dakota Amber-Lee Edjericon (born 1995):
Edjericon was found guilty of assault on June 7th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
She was handed a conditional discharge sentence, which means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets.
Edjericon was also handed a probation order for 12 months.
Gerald James Haughian (born 1982):
Haughian was found guilty of theft $5,000 or under on June 1st, 2025 in Fort St. John.
He was handed a suspended sentence, where he will have conditions to follow. He was also handed a probation order for 12 months.
Richard Vandiepen (born 1958):
Vandiepen was found guilty of driving with a suspended driver’s licence on January 2nd, 2025 in Hudson’s Hope.
Vandiepen will have to pay a fine of $1,000 and is prohibited from driving for one year according to the Motor Vehicle Act (MVA).
He will pay a victim surcharge of $150, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.
Michael James Vanzandwyk (born 1983):
Vanzandwyk was found guilty of assault on October 31st, 2025 in Rose Prairie.
He was handed a conditional discharge and a probation order for 12 months.
He will also have to pay a victim surcharge of $100.
Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, December 15th
Dustin Robert McGuire (born 1982):
McGuire was found guilty of careless use or storage of a firearm on September 25th, 2025 in Fort Nelson.
McGuire was asked to pay a fine of $400.
Mark Douglas Whitehead (born 1985):
Whitehead was found guilty of driving without a driver’s licence on May 20th, 2024 in Fort Nelson.
Whitehead was asked to pay a fine of $1,000 and a victim surcharge of $150.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, December 16th
Kyle James Andrews (born 1987):
Andrews was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs on May 24th, 2023 in Dawson Creek.
He was handed a driving probation of one year and he will have to pay a fine of $1,000.
He was asked to pay a victim surcharge of $100.
Edna Cardinal (born 1949):
Cardinal was found guilty of failing to provide necessaries for an animal and breach of an undertaking on May 17th, 2025 in Dawson Creek.
Cardinal was handed a conditional sentence for six months, which means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets.
Winston Michael Laglace (born 1985):
Laglace was found guilty of breaching a probation order on March 11th, 2025; breaching a release order on July 22nd, 2025 in Dawson Creek; and breaching an undertaking on October 9th, 2025 in Dawson Creek.
He was given a jail time served sentence.
Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, December 18th
Ian David Thomas McMillan (born 1984):
McMillan was found guilty of possessing stolen property under $5,000, wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer and robbery using a restricted or prohibited firearm on September 8th, 2022 in Fort Nelson.
For the robbery, McMillan was asked to submit DNA and was sentenced to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime, and jail for 1,012 days.
He was also handed a firearms prohibition for 10 years.
For wilfully resisting a peace officer and possessing stolen property, he was sentenced to forfeiture and jail for 60 days.
