Fort St. John officers investigate arson at Charlie Lake scales

The Fort St. John RCMP is appealing for information about the early-morning fire at Charlie Lake scales on December 15th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Police are appealing for information about the early-morning fire at the scales near Charlie Lake. 

On December 15th, the RCMP and Charlie Lake Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1:17 a.m. at the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) building located at the weight scales at 9011 Highway 97 north in Charlie Lake. 

Officers say the incident was arson.

Constable Chad Neustaeter, media relations officer for the Fort St. John RCMP, said: “The suspect was a lone male associated to a dark colored pickup truck who committed this intentional and highly destructive act.” 

The RCMP is asking motorists to check dashcam video from between 1 a.m and 1:20 a.m. from the area of the CVSE building and Highway 97. 

Neustaeter said: “The Fort St. John RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in checking dashcam video from the area at the time or if they witnessed the incident to call police.”
