North Peace warned to brace for up to 20cm of snowfall
Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning of “heavy snow” coming to the North Peace, with between 10cm and 20cm forecast on December 13th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Up to 20cm of snow could fall on the North Peace as freezing temperatures engulf the region.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning of “heavy snow” coming to the region, with between 10cm and 20cm forecast.
A weather system moving across northern B.C. means the snowfall is expected to begin the morning of Saturday, December 13th, but ease that same evening.
The warning covers Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge and Dawson Creek.
According to Environment Canada’s definitions, yellow warnings are for hazardous weather which may cause damage, disruption or health impacts, but these effects are expected to be moderate, localized or short-term.
This comes amid a cold spell, with wind chill values nearing -40 C, which has prompted Environment Canada to issue a weather warning for Friday, December 12th and into Saturday, December 13th.
It warns people that frostbite can develop in minutes on exposed skin, and asks everyone to watch out for cold-related symptoms, including shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
