Person taken to hospital in ‘serious’ condition after Highway 97 incident

The incident led Highway 97 to be closed during the afternoon of December 8th, 2025.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — One person has been transported to hospital in a serious condition following a crash on Highway 97 in the Pink Mountain area.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites told Energeticcity.ca it received a call at a motor vehicle incident on Monday, December 8th at 12:30 p.m.

The incident was in the 25400 block of the Alaska Highway – Highway 97 – north, said Twaites.

“Three ambulances with primary care paramedics and an air ambulance with critical care paramedics responded,” said Twaites.

Twaites added “emergency medical treatment” was provided to one patient, who was transferred first by ground and then by air ambulance to hospital.

The incident had led that area of the highway to be closed during the afternoon, and then overnight and into the morning.
