Politicians join retirement home’s ‘beloved’ Reindeer Hunt
Dawson Creek’s mayor, Darcy Dober, and other politicians joined Rotary Manor’s residents for their annual Reindeer Hunt in 2025.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Local politicians joined staff at a Dawson Creek retirement home for the start of the holiday season and a “beloved” tradition.
In a December 1st Facebook post, Northern Health shared images of its annual Reindeer Hunt at Rotary Manor, a long-term care facility which is operated by Northern Health.
According to the post, each floor of the facility receives its own Christmas tree, which is tested and “fluffed to perfection” by the facility’s recreation team prior to their “holiday debut.”

Before the trees were sent to their designated floors for the season, residents and staff gathered for a reindeer hunt on November 18th, with staff dressing in reindeer antlers for the residents to hunt amongst the trees.
This year, however, Dawson Creek mayor Darcy Dober and municipal councillors joined the staff as reindeer.
“We were thrilled to welcome our mayor and councillors, who joined our recreation team in prancing through the forest and creating unforgettable moments with our residents,” the post read.
“The day was filled with smiles, laughter and joy, reminding us that every moment shared is truly precious.”
