FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — While Santa will not fly until Christmas Eve, he will get a helping hand in Fort St. John thanks to an annual Toy Drive.

Home Hardware, in partnership with Moose FM and Strait, have organized the annual Toy Drive for 2025.

After Santa’s sleigh arrives at the store on Monday, December 8th, city residents and businesses are encouraged to drop off an unwrapped toy between then and Saturday, December 13th.

The toys will then be donated to the Fort St. John Salvation Army. The sleigh will be provided by ArcTech Welding and Machining.

Adam Reaburn, president of Moose FM’s and Energeticcity.ca’s parent company Moose Media, says the event has been going strong since 2004 and is thrilled for another year to help all children have a joyous holiday season.

“The Toy Drive has been one of our favourite days of the year, and we are ready to do it again,” said Reaburn. “The goal is simple: let’s bury that sleigh from Arctech Welding and Machining in toys.

“We’ve seen this community pull off miracles for 22 years straight, so we know we can make this the biggest haul yet.”

Moose FM program director Chris Walker said the station is delighted to assist jolly old Santa Claus in any way they can.

“Every year, the generosity of this community leaves us in awe,” said Walker. “The Fort St. John Home Hardware and Strait Toy Drive continues to succeed because the people of Fort St. John never hesitate to step up for local kids and families.

“Watching Santa’s sleigh fill with tens of thousands of dollars in toys is more than a tradition: it’s a reminder of the kindness, compassion and spirit that define our community.”

Moose FM announcers will also be on location at Fort St. John Home Hardware on December 12th and 13th, so people can drop by and meet on-air personalities as well as drop off a toy.

The Moose FM annual Toy Drive runs from December 8th and December 13th at Fort St. John Home Hardware from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. each day at 9820 108th Street in Fort St. John.
