Snowfall warning issued for Williston and Pine Pass

According to Environment Canada’s snowfall warning, up to 10cm of snow is expected in the Williston region and Pine Pass area on Highway 97 overnight from November 12th to 13th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — As much as 10 centimetres of snow is expected in the Williston region and Pine Pass overnight.

In a November 12th snowfall warning, Environment Canada said a frontal system will bring snow, heavy at times, beginning early this evening before easing Thursday morning.

“Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” said Environment Canada. “Visibility will likely be reduced at times.”

The agency also warned weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Drivers are advised to turn on headlights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.

The ‘Shift Into Winter’ website by Road Safety at Work is also recommended, and people who plan on driving in wintry conditions are urged to take precautions, including proper use of winter tires and tire chains.
