Obituary – Edward L. Olichny

Edward L. Olichny (Ed), a friend to many in the business and church community. February 11th, 1933 – October 21st, 2025.

Our Dad went peacefully home to his Lord and saviour on October 21st, 2025.

He was 92 years old. Ed was born in Hythe, AB to Steve and Aranka Olichny in February of 1933. His early years were in the Peace River area until he made the move to Prince George, B.C. in 1968 with his wife Muriel and their young family. He has resided there ever since.

After 11 successful years with Erwin Homes Ltd, Ed decided to venture out on his own and started Tropical Recreation, which then became Tropical Pool & Spa.

His company received Beachcomber Dealer of the Year six times, Award of Excellence 10 times and many other awards which spoke to his customer-centered focus and business integrity. The business was sold upon his decision to retire in his late 60s.

Ed loved his family, his friends and people in general (he would never turn down a good conversation!) and he passionately loved the Lord.

Ed is predeceased by his dear wife Muriel. He is survived by their three children Lorne (Lana), Dennis (Denise) and Carolynn (Terry), along with 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his baby sister Marg Cobb.

A memorial Service will be held on November 7th at 3 p.m. with a reception immediately to follow at Lakewood Alliance Church in Prince George, B.C.
