Northern Health cautions Fort St. John of long ER wait times

Northern Health is cautioning residents they may experience longer wait times at the Fort St. John Hospital due to a high volume of patients.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Residents visiting the emergency room in Fort St. John should expect “longer than usual” wait times today. 

According to an October 22nd Facebook post at 9:30 a.m., the Fort St. John Hospital is experiencing “higher than usual” volumes of patients. 

Due to this, Northern Health warns wait times for departments – including the emergency room – could be “longer than usual.”

The health authority encourages individuals with “less urgent care needs” to visit their primary care provider or contact the Northern Health Virtual Clinic to book an appointment by calling 1-844-645-7811 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Residents are still advised to call 911 if in need of life-threatening emergency medical treatment to be transported to the nearest available emergency department.
