DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Citizens of Dawson Creek can now access all of the city’s recreation facilities with a single pass.

In an October 20th news release, the city announced the launch of the new MultiPass, which is accepted at all recreational facilities in Dawson Creek.

“We heard from the community that access and flexibility were key,” said Ryan MacIvor, the city’s general manager of community services.

“The MultiPass gives you one card, one payment option and endless ways to move, play and connect.”

The pass offers drop-in punch cards with youth, student, adult and senior pricing, giving users access to:

  • Swimming and wall climbing at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre
  • Public skating and shinny hockey at the Memorial Arena
  • Court sports like basketball, futsal (indoor soccer) and volleyball at the Kin Arena sports floor

Fort St. John is also considering implementing a similar program to make recreation access easier, according to the city’s communications manager Ryan Harvey.

“As identified in our five-year capital plan, we are looking to upgrade our recreation software and investigate a leisure access pass program within the next several years,” Harvey said.

“These upgrades are part of our ongoing effort to improve the user experience and expand access to recreation opportunities in our community.”

Currently, Fort St. John offers separate passes for activities like skating, dry floor programs and swimming, which – according to Harvey – provide residents with flexible options based on their interests.

MultiPasses can be purchased at recreation facilities in Dawson Creek or by phone at 250-784-3604.
