PRRD approves $250K for Pouce Coupe fire hall expansion

The Peace River Regional District has approved $250,000 in diverted funds for an expansion of the Village of Pouce Coupe’s fire hall.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The regional district has upped the budget for fire services in Pouce Coupe as the village looks to begin expanding its fire hall. 

At the October 2nd meeting, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) board of directors approved a funding amendment and agreement for fire services in Pouce Coupe and Dawson Creek. 

The amendment was to the ‘Function 325 Dawson Creek/Pouce Coupe Fire’ funding pot for a total of $250,000. The funds will be sourced from the Electoral Area D allotment of Peace River Agreement funds.

Following the approval of the transfer, the PRRD then approved $250,000 to expand the Village of Pouce Coupe’s fire hall.

According to the 2023-2027 financial plan, Function 325 has a 2025 budget of $592,417.

No information was provided regarding when construction will begin in Pouce Coupe, or how long the project would last.
