North Peace Leisure Pool reopens after annual maintenance shutdown
The North Peace Leisure Pool reopened to swimmers on October 6th, 2025 after being closed since September 7th as part of an annual shutdown.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Leisure Pool reopened its doors to swimmers early this morning.
The facility, which closed on September 7th as part of a yearly maintenance shutdown, resumed operations at 6 a.m. on Monday, October 6th.
According to the City of Fort St. John, the annual pool shutdown is a key part of ensuring the long-term health of the aquatic centre and reducing the risk of unexpected closures.

“During the temporary annual pool shutdown, staff can conduct various preventative maintenance, deep cleaning and larger projects that cannot be completed when the pool is filled,” the city explained on its website.
In a September 25th Facebook post prior to the pool’s reopening, the city’s recreation department told residents to “get ready for a refreshed and revitalized pool.”
The reopening comes as the city moves ahead with plans for a new aquatic facility.
In September, the city council appointed councillors Trevor Bolin and Sarah MacDougall to the newly formed aquatic facility working group, which will help guide a project to replace the North Peace Leisure Pool following the Peace River Regional District’s withdrawal the previous month.
