RCMP investigate suspicious fire in Fort Nelson

The Northern Rockies RCMP are investigating a suspicious weekend fire at a towing company’s impound lot in Fort Nelson.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — RCMP in Fort Nelson are investigating a possibly intentional weekend fire at a vehicle impound lot. 

In a September 29th press release, The Northern Rockies RCMP are seeking information about a fire at a vehicle impound lot that has been deemed suspicious. 

The fire occurred on September 27th around 7 a.m. at a vehicle impound lot on 44th Avenue in Fort Nelson belonging to On-It Towing.

Madonna Saunderson, a media relations corporal with the B.C. RCMP North District, explained physical evidence found at the scene point to the fires being set intentionally. 

“When the Fire Department arrived on scene, multiple vehicles inside a gated compound of On-It Towing were engulfed in flames,” Saunderson said. 

According to the release, the towing company has seen several suspicious fires in the past 16 months.

The RCMP is now asking members of the public for any information regarding the fire, or any past fires, by contacting the Northern Rockies RCMP at 250-774-2700.
