FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — North Peace and Fort Nelson residents are being urged by Environment Canada to expect and prepare for strong winds.

The agency has issued a wind warning for the North Peace region as well as the southernmost part of the Fort Nelson area, saying a Pacific storm is making its way through northern B.C.

The storm is reportedly expected to bring gusty winds of up to 90 kilometres per hour, which can damage soft outdoor shelters like tents, cause temporary utility outages and make driving dangerous due to cross-winds.
