FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The District of Taylor has finalized the lineup of a committee that will come up with its new logo in 2026.

During the September 15th regular meeting of the District of Taylor council, four residents, including Councillor Betty Ponto, were appointed to the district logo development committee.

The district first announced plans to move away from its current logo in January, approving the group’s terms of reference in February.

The district plans to adopt a new logo after significant public feedback and workshopping, with a tentative deadline of 2026.

At the September meeting, the council reviewed a report from staff which detailed the names of those proposed to be appointed to the committee.

Specifically, staff recommended Betty Ponto, a member of the Taylor council, Kimberly Westgate, the district’s corporate services assistant, Mike Whalley, the district’s parks and facilities manager, and Brad Filmer, a former district councillor and resident of the district. All four were approved by the council to sit on the committee.

The group will now begin workshopping, researching and consulting with residents to develop a “more current” logo that “reflects the historical heritage of the community and provides a sense of place,” according to staff.
