FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — City council is preparing for the winter months by awarding parking lot clearing services to a local landscaping company.

During the September 8th regular meeting, the City of Fort St. John council reviewed a tender award for snow clearing ahead of the winter months.

Storm Irrigation Services, a landscaping company based in Fort St. John, was approved to provide snow clearing services for municipal and municipal recreation facility parking lots following a tender process in early August.

Specifically, Storm Irrigation Services will be responsible for clearing parking lots at the development services and new RCMP buildings on 100th Street, the Fire Hall on 93rd Avenue, the North Peace Cultural Centre on 100th Avenue and its overflow parking lots, the North Peace Leisure Pool, the Pomeroy Sport Centre, the North Peace Arena and the Fort St. John Curling Club.

According to a report from staff to the council, the tender was approved and awarded by staff as it “lies within staff purchasing authority.”

The exact price of the tender was not specified in the report. Energeticcity.ca reached out to the city for that information, but did not receive a response.

The report says the services will be delivered within budget “based on the operating budgets and the tendered prices.”
