Peace region water and transfer stations to be disrupted during power outage

The BC Hydro outage will impact two water stations and several waste transfer stations in the Peace region on September 7th.

PEACE RIVER, B.C. — A planned power outage will affect two water stations and several waste transfer stations in the Peace region this weekend

The planned outage is expected to impact nearly 2,900 BC Hydro customers in Fort St. John and numerous other Peace region communities from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m on Sunday, September 7th.

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is now advising residents of a planned water station service disruption due to the outage.

It is expected to affect the Buick Creek and Prespatou tankloader water stations, with service expected to be unavailable from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If residents need to use a water station during this time, they can use the other three available stations in Electoral Area B of the PRRD:

  • Boundary Lake Water Station at 1105 Cecil Lake Road
  • Feye Spring Water Station at 1863 Imperial Avenue
  • Rose Prairie Water Station at 15615 259th Road

Several transfer stations, where waste is stored before being transported to a disposal facility, will also be unavailable on September 7th, including:

  • Prespatou Transfer Station
  • Wonowon Transfer Station
  • Buick Creek Transfer Station
  • Cecil Lake Transfer Station
  • Rose Prairie Transfer Station
  • Upper Halfway Transfer Station

Operations on the listed locations will be restored on September 8th. All other PRRD landfills and transfer stations will remain open during this time.
