(UPDATE) Person taken to hospital after Alaska Highway incident north of Fort St. John

Motorists driving north of Fort St. John were being warned to expect traffic delays between Lyndon and Evergreen subdivisions on Highway 97 (Alaska Highway) on August 25th.

Updated, August 26th, 12 p.m.: This story has been updated with more information about the incident from the BC Emergency Health Services. Additionally, the road has now been cleared.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Motorists driving north of Fort St. John were warned to expect traffic delays yesterday.

According to DriveBC, a vehicle incident at about 2:30 p.m. on August 25th on Highway 97 led to the road being reduced to single-lane alternating traffic between Lyndon and Evergreen subdivisions. It has since been cleared.

Witnesses shared photos on social media indicating it involved at least two vehicles, one of which allegedly had Wisconsin licence plates.

BCEHS spokesperson Bowen Osoko told Energeticcity.ca two ambulances with primary care paramedics responded to the scene.

They gave emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to the hospital in a stable condition, he said.
