North Peace SAR reports positive outcomes in two mutual aid requests

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Two recent mutual aid calls involving North Peace Search and Rescue (SAR) ended with people being found safe and sound, according to the organization’s search manager and president.

In an interview with Energeticcity.ca, Brian Lamond said Fort Nelson SAR contacted the Fort St. John-based team asking for assistance finding a missing person on Sunday, August 17th.

Lamond said the outcome was ultimately positive, with the person found within the town of Fort Nelson.

The following day, on Monday, August 18th, North Peace SAR was contacted for another mutual aid request, this time by Tumbler Ridge SAR.

The South Peace-based team was requesting assistance finding a pair of hikers that had gone missing near Bergeron Falls, a waterfall several kilometres north of the district.

Lamond’s team mustered and prepared to assist in the search, but as they were about to leave, he said he received good news from the Tumbler Ridge team: the hikers had been found, allowing North Peace SAR to stand down.

North Peace SAR published Facebook posts about the Fort Nelson and Tumbler Ridge incidents over the following days.
