Fort St. John sets new precipitation day record
An out-of-season chill and some summer rain saw a new precipitation day record set in Fort St. John in 2025 for any August 13th dating back to 2012.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — An out-of-season chill and some summer rain saw a new precipitation day record set in Fort St. John this week.
According to Environment Canada’s historical data almanac — which has information on Fort St. John’s daily weather patterns dating back to December 2012 — Wednesday, August 13th, 2025 saw the most precipitation on record for August 13th with 6.3 millimetres of rainfall.
That’s 2.4 millimetres more than the previous record of 3.9 millimetres, recorded on August 13th, 2022.

Additionally, this year also saw the lowest recorded maximum and average temperature for any given August 13th in Fort St. John, with a high of 12.2 C and an average temperature throughout the day of just 9.8 C.
The next lowest average recorded was 13.3 C and the previous lowest maximum temperature was 18.8 C, both in 2020. However, the lowest minimum temperature recorded on any given August 13th remains the 6.8 C low recorded in 2018.
Additionally, data in Environment Canada’s almanac for August 13th, 2017 was incomplete, with only an estimated maximum temperature and no listed average throughout the day.
