FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — More storms could hit the Peace region soon, according to Environment Canada.

The agency has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Peace region, saying conditions are favourable for the formation of “severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.”

Motorists are being urged to drive carefully, as heavy rainfall can cause flash flooding and significantly reduce visibility on the road.

The agency also says lightning kills and injures many people across Canada every year, so residents should make their way indoors if they hear thunder.

As per Environment Canada’s hourly forecast for Fort St. John, the storm risk is expected to end at roughly 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 7th.
