Thunderstorm warning issued for Peace region, Fort Nelson areas

Thunderstorm warnings have been issued for the northeast B.C. region on August 2nd, 2025.

FORT NELSON, B.C. – Environment Canada has issued thunderstorm warnings for both the Peace region and Fort Nelson areas. 

Both warnings issued by the weather authority say conditions are favourable for storms “capable of producing very strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain” today, August 2nd.

The forecast in Fort St. John predicts storms on Saturday evening, with some “fog patches” developing around midnight.

Meanwhile, Environment Canada says a storm is outside Fort Nelson and is moving north at approximately 20 kilometres an hour.

The warning says the heavy rain may cause flash flooding and “severe reductions” to visibility in the area, and the large hail may cause significant damage and injury.

“Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches,” reads the alert. “If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail.”
