TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — RCMP officers are assuring residents that a series of “loud bangs” heard throughout Tumbler Ridge during a police operation were not gunshots.

According to RCMP media relations officer Madonna Saunderson, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the district on July 19th.

Few details have been shared regarding the incident but Saunderson says the nature of the investigation meant resources from other nearby RCMP units, including the Emergency Response Team, were at the scene.

“While loud ‘bangs’ may have been heard during this time, and while I cannot comment further, I can confirm that the noises were not a result of gunfire,” Saunderson said. “I have no further details at this time.”

According to Saunderson, the investigation remains ongoing and more details may be revealed in the future.
