DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Boundary Lake Water Station has reopened after nearly a year-long closure from sustained damage and repairs.

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) announced the reopening on July 18th after Northern Health tested water samples for public safety and compliance.

“We thank residents for their patience during this extended closure and replacement process,” said the PRRD.

The station first closed indefinitely in August 2024 after an inspection revealed water quality concerns.

A chemical had leaked from an unauthorized truck that tried to take water from a connection point at the facility without permission, causing an equipment outage that stopped the water flow.

The PRRD originally projected the station’s reopening on June 30th, but an update that afternoon informed the public it had been delayed due to issues with the facility’s newly added water treatment equipment.
