Obituary – Jean Irene Stewart (nee Ollenberger)

Jean Irene Stewart’s family will be hosting a celebration of her life on August 31st, 2025 at the Rolla Community Hall.

Jean Irene Stewart, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 10th, 2025 in Airdrie, Alberta, leaving behind a legacy of love and unwavering dedication to her family.

Born on September 6th, 1941 in Fort St. John, B.C., Jean’s life was a testament to the power of hard work and boundless compassion. Jean’s life was intertwined with the love of her husband, George Stewart, with whom she shared countless cherished memories and adventures. Together they raised a beautiful family.

As a mother, Jean was a source of unwavering love, guidance and strength for her children, Shelly, Rory and Tara. Her love knew no bounds and her children were her pride and joy. She nurtured them, supported them and instilled in them the values of kindness, compassion and resilience that would guide them throughout their lives.

Jean’s life was blessed with grandchildren Gage, Marshall, Ashley, Megan, Kyle, Kennedy and Kieran; her great-grandchildren Trael, Oakley, Huntley, Thor and Jolene; as well as step-grandchildren Jessica and Victor and their spouses; and step great-grandchildren Millie, Lindsay and Caliana. Jean cherished each and every moment spent with her family.

Throughout her life Jean’s talents and passions shone brightly, from farming in the Rolla, B.C. area to owning a Texaco gas station and small equipment rentals business on Vancouver Island and finally the Dairy Queen in Fort St. John, B.C., which they purchased in 1979 where they created a warm and welcoming community hub for all who crossed its threshold. In 1998 Jean and George retired to Kelowna, B.C. where they continued to create memories and enjoyed travelling with family and friends.

Eventually their travels led Jean and George back to Fort St. John, B.C. for several years and in 2014 they moved to Airdrie, Alberta, where Jean passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and a shorter battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Jean’s family will be hosting a celebration of Jean’s life on August 31st, 2025 at the Rolla Community Hall in Rolla, B.C., from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. All who would like to attend to share memories and join in the celebration of her life are warmly welcomed. A luncheon will be served.
