Huskies’ defenceman heads to Marian University

Huskies defenceman Connor Cozens has committed to the Marian University ACHA Division Two program, according to a Facebook post.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Yet another former Fort St. John Huskies player has committed to Marian University for the chance to play hockey for the Wisconsin school.

Defenceman Connor Cozens has committed to play for the school’s American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division Two club program for 2025-26, according to a Facebook post from the Sabres page on Monday, July 14th.

He joins Ashton Underhill, who committed to the program earlier this off-season.

The 22-year-old Whitehorse, Yukon native spent three seasons with the Pups and his 2024-25 season was his most productive in his tenure.

Cozens had seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points in 35 regular-season games in the 2024-25 Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) season.

In the playoffs, he provided leadership for the young Huskies, with a goal and four assists as Fort St. John captured its fifth league title in six seasons and finished fourth at the Hockey Alberta 2025 provincial championships.

Cozens joins a program with several former Huskies, including junior forward Cayden Frenette and senior Tyler McArthur. 

Additionally, former Huskies sniper Brandon Moode is on the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin school’s varsity squad.

Last season, the ACHA team captured the Philip E. Schroeder Memorial Trophy, known as the ‘Hap Cup’,  winning the Northern Collegiate Hockey League Championship.

A guy who found his calling later in life, Edward Hitchins is a professional storyteller with a colourful and extensive history.

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.

He looks forward to growing both as a reporter and as a human being while being posted in Fort St. John.
