Site C reports minor increase in employment for May
BC Hydro is reporting an increase in employment numbers during May 2025 as work on the Site C hydroelectric dam continues.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Employment at Site C has seen a slight increase as the site approaches the end of construction.
During the month of May, BC Hydro reported 1,472 individuals working on the Site C hydroelectric dam, which is a slight increase compared to the 1,449 workers in April.
Of those, 714 or 75 per cent were primary residents of B.C., and 267 or 28 per cent were primary residents of the Peace River Regional District (PRRD).

This is a slight increase compared to April’s reported 74 per cent primary provincial residents and 23 per cent primary PRRD residents.
The utility reported 53 Indigenous people, or 2.37 per cent, working at the site in May, an increase from 49 individuals or three per cent in April. There were 176 women, or 11.9 per cent, in May, an increase from 164 individuals or 11 per cent in April.
According to BC Hydro, there were 41 apprentices, or 2.8 per cent, at the dam in May, down from 52 people or three per cent in April.
The Site C hydroelectric dam is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025 with four of six generating units operational as of April, and work being conducted to ensure the site is safe for local water-going wildlife.
